Up to and including Holden No. 6, my instruments had a printed paper maker’s label and no external serial number:
From No. 7 onwards I switched to an etched brass plate:
From No. 9 I also started putting a smaller etched and hand-engraved serial number plate on the opposite end (at some point I plan to retrofit one onto No. 8):
I also now print a large gold foil version of my maker’s plate on black paper and glue it inside the lid of my cases:
